Have you heard One Direction’s “Story of my Life”? And have you heard the cover by Nigerian artist, Adekunle Gold titled ‘Sade’?
Well Adekunle Gold was on Top Radio 90.9 with Tosyn Bucknor today to talk about the inspiration behind that song, and when a new one would be out.
Adekunle Gold says he would call himself, “King of Photoshop” because he became popular for photoshopping himself unto pictures of celebrities he hoped to meet. When asked if had now met any, he said, yes, Toolz. She hated the picture before but they eventually met and spoke.
He wrote ‘Sade’s hook first in traffic while listening to the original song. When he had to flesh it out, he drew inspiration from a girl he liked who friend zoned him. When asked how that ended, he said he has moved on.
Perhaps to fellow artist Simi who NET claims he is dating? He smiled a lot but declined to answer.
On being signed to YBNL, Adekunle Gold (whose real name is Adekunle Kosoko) says he was comforted when Olamide said, “don’t change your style” so he is happy about being at YBNL. The hook up came through his producer, Pheelz.
Adekunle currently has a #SadeSingOff game going on where some lucky couples would win him, singing at their wedding, as well as other interesting prizes.
